REM (Research Experience and Mentoring)is a combined 2021 summer experience where students will be financially supported to work for 6 weeks on a research project and continue on to spend 4 weeks mentoring kids at a NSBE SEEK camp. To see the enthusiasm our 2019 program generated, please watch this short 3-minute video (link below).
Focus this summer is on a broader theme: Energy for Our Growing World- how a wide range of energy sources (renewables, emerging energy technologies—biofuels, solar, nuclear, wind, shale and other fossil fuels) serve the needs of people and communities, and how we balance those needs against the impact these energy sources differentially have on our world.
The REM program includes six weeks of research May 24 – July 2, 2021.
Participants will be matched with an Engineering faculty member and graduate mentor to work on a research project of mutual interest, attend weekly professional development seminars, and receive a total stipend of $5,000 for 6 weeks at CISTAR.and receive a total stipend of $5,000 for 6 weeks at CISTAR.and receive a total stipend of $5,000 for 6 weeks at CISTAR.
