March 19–20: Cherokee Nation Grant Writing & Grants Management

Hosted by the Cherokee Nation, this two-day workshop will cover the basic skills and know-how to facilitate community involvement along with comprehensive and strategic planning to establish a dedicated project team to research, identify potential grant sources, and develop the attitude and fortitude needed to write competitive grant proposals successfully. This presentation will show grant writers how to gain competence in writing typical grant narrative components, including a precise statement of need and goal development using a Logic Model formula, as well as a concise description of program/project design, systematic evaluation based on objectives, reliable sustainability build on a reliable funding system, a transparent budget, and a conclusive executive summary.

Day two is dedicated to grants management and engages tribal leaders, managers, and directors in the discussion of generally acceptable methods and legal requirements of managing a grant. This training will discuss methods to plan and strategize for effective grant management and focus on accepted financial, managerial and accounting principles.
