Research Funding Opportunities for the Prevention of Black Adolescent Suicide

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) has issued a set of Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) to encourage research focused on developing and testing system-level interventions and strategies to improve systematic risk identification, coordinated referral to, or engagement and retention in quality care for prevention of suicide ideation and behavior among Black children and adolescents, and youth from underserved populations:


  • RFA-MH-21-185: Systems-Level Risk Detection and Interventions to Reduce Suicide, Ideation, and Behaviors in Black Children and Adolescents (R01 Clinical Trial Optional)
  • RFA-MH-21-186: Systems-Level Risk Detection and Interventions to Reduce Suicide, Ideation, and Behaviors in Black Children and Adolescents (R34 Clinical Trial Optional) 
  • RFA-MH-21-187: Systems-Level Risk Detection and Interventions to Reduce Suicide, Ideation, and Behaviors in Youth from Underserved Populations (R01 Clinical Trial Optional) 
  • RFA-MH-21-188: Systems-Level Risk Detection and Interventions to Reduce Suicide, Ideation, and Behaviors in Youth from Underserved Populations (R34 Clinical Trial Optional)
