Florida International University Awards

  1. Project Name: Cyber Attack Orchestration Test Bed for Automation and Threat Monitoring in Virtual Environment (CTAM)
    Awarding Agency:
    Test Resource Management Center
    Project Summary:
Florida International University (FIU) has developed the CTAM system which is the test technology for T&E purposes to detect, monitor, and analyze the test vector behavior during cyberspace attacks by enabling key capabilities such as: 1) Deployment of virtualized environments along with the advanced instrumentation tools for control and monitoring of test vector behavior; 2) Cyber-attack emulation through infection and propagation of simulated endpoints; 3) Fine-grained introspection, data collection, and monitoring of various aspects of the infrastructure through the centralized system; 4) Profiling of test vector behavior from a virtual infrastructure perspective; 5) Rapid cleanup or roll back to the previous stable state, reconfiguration and redeployment for efficient real-time profiling of threats in cyberspace; and 6) Generation of reports, including visualizations which assess the potential damage to operational cyberspace assets.
    Outcome:

The completed objectives of this research are: 1. to perform perform hardware introspection using JTAG (Hardware in the Loop), cyber analytics with hardware introspection, automated mission modeling and develop KVM/QEMU system call introspection library, while providing support for deployment of CTAM system, 3. Introspection Analytics Platform (IAP), 4. Introspection Analytics Center (IAC), 5. Test Vector Repository, and 6. Automated Mission Modeling: Automated Mission Modelling module designed and developed for CTAM system, 7. The KVM/QEMU System Call, and 8. Enhancement and Support of CTAM System with Transition Partners to deploy the CTAM system and provide support to the Cyber Test Technology team and transition partners.
